VW Campervan Holidays in Scotland.

The first part of your holiday experience will be planning where you will go in your camper. You can feel the excitement rise as you plan out your trip, visualising all the great places you will see along the way. To inspire you here are a few suggestions of places to see and things you could do…

The Scottish Borders is steeped in history and has many visitor attractions. There are stately homes, several 12th century Abbeys or why not visit Abbotsford the home of Sir Walter Scott.

Scotland also boasts the Cairngorm National Park and Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park. Both have miles to explore with countless activities, there is definitely something for everyone.

Fancy visiting an island why not try Skye with it's majestic Cuillin mountains, centuries of history and abundance of wildlife.  Getting to Skye couldn't be easier, just drive over the bridge from Kyle of Lochalsh, however for that extra special experience you can still get a ferry to Skye so you really feel like you are going to an island.  There are many other islands all within easy reach, Schiehallion has already been to Mull or why not try Islay with it's many distilleries.  The Outer Hebrides are also achievable and provide fantastic beaches, with wonderful camping locations.  If you fancy going a bit further afield you could try the Orkney Isles which are full of amazing archaeology and historical sites.

Looking for something a bit busier how about one of our great cities, Aberdeen is right on our doorstep with Dundee achievable in around a couple of hours.  Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness are easily achievable in a days easy driving as is Stirling with the Wallace Monument and Stirling Castlewell worth a visit.  Aberdeenshire's coast and mountains offer some spectacular scenery so you really don't have to go far to enjoy all that Scotland has to offer.

You will be spoilt for choice when choosing somewhere to stay.  Scotland has countless campsites, whether you are looking for that secluded beachside site, spectacular mountain views or if you prefer more comfort with facilities such as shops, bar, resturant, swimming pools etc there are plenty to choose from.  Why not visit Scottish Camping for a list of some fantastic sites you can stay at.

We could go on and on, such is the choice available to you.  If your stuck for ideas, there’s not many places we haven’t been in Scotland and we are happy to share our experience of holidaying in your chosen destination. The possibilities are endless.

Campervan Travels

Schiehallion and An Teallach have travelled extensively all over Scotland and the North of England.  Islands of Mull, Skye, Lewis and Harris, Orkney and Shetland have all been visited as have the North, West and East Coasts and many of the glens, towns and villages in between.

Our visitors book allows you to record your travels and hopefully gain some ideas for places to visit from those who have travelled before you.

Why not book now and choose your own destination.

Your Comments

Just look at what some of our customers had to say about their experience of a VW Camper holiday.

  • "We hired Schiehallion for our two week honeymoon in September 2012. It was one of the best Scottish holidays we've ever had. The camper is a comfortable, liberating and very cool way to get around! The service, advice and friendliness of Bayview Campers is second to none. They're professional and clearly really passionate about their vans. We were genuinely touched by all that Geoff from Bayview did to make sure we got the most out of our holiday, from dropping the van off at our wedding venue to driving us to the train station at the end of the holiday, to being at the end of the phone if we had any questions, this being our first (certainly not the last!) trip in a VW. A camper is definitely the best way to see Scotland, and we can't recommend Bayview Campers highly enough!"

  • "Just wanted to say thanks again for letting us rent your precious van
this week - we had a great time in the coolest way to travel (lots of
random people talked to us and we made one hitch-hiker's day when we
picked him up in Glen Shiel).
You clearly take excellent care of the van - its reliability was good
evidence of that, and we really appreciated the thought you'd put into
kitting it out - especially the little things like the washing up
liquid, dustpan & brush and most of all the beer!
If there was one minor improvement I'd suggest, it would be to put in a
diary/visitor book.  The other family we bumped into enjoyed reading
where their van had been to and it gave them some ideas where to camp.
I will definitely recommend you to anyone who fancies a road trip and I
hope to do it again sometime (though maybe at a warmer time of year!)."

  • From the moment I picked up the van  I knew I would have a great time living in it for just over a week! Geoff picked me up from the station and after going over the paperwork Geoff gave a very comprehensive tour and explanation of the van which was extremely helpful. Then it was time to get in and start the adventure! I got the hang of driving the van very quickly after I realised there is no 5th gear!! A quick stop in Perth to collect my stuff and  it was off to Guildtown for the Scottish Austin seven club rally weekend.   After a great weekend it was time to set off on the long drive to Settle in the Yorkshire dales.  An Teallach performed brilliantly keeping a steady speed and no problems on the hills. We had a great week in the Yorkshire dales with lots to do and see during the days and sleeping very comfortably in the van at night. The van is very well equipped with everything you could need for a holiday ,even outside chairs for the sunny moments! Driving back up to Scotland was fun with waving to other VW vans on the way. After delivering  the van back at Geoffs he very kindly dropped me  back at the train station........excellent service.
